Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 03, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use Pixly, a Chrome extension for capturing and styling browser screenshots. Pixly processes screenshots locally on your device and does not upload screenshot content to our servers.
1. Who We Are
Pixly is operated by Mirlan Dzhumagulov, based in Oulu, Finland. We comply with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies.
2. What Data We Collect
When you activate Pixly Pro, we collect your license key, a locally generated device ID, and your browser user agent to verify and manage licenses.
Payments are processed by Polar. We receive basic purchase metadata (such as email and order identifiers) required to issue and manage your license.
Pixly stores settings and cached license status in Chrome local storage. Screenshot data is processed locally and not transmitted to our servers.
We collect pseudonymous usage analytics to understand feature usage, measure product performance, and monitor reliability and errors. These analytics events may include a persistent pseudonymous browser identifier, a session identifier, page path, referrer domain, UTM parameters, device or browser context, and related event metadata.
We do not collect browsing history beyond interactions with our own website or product surfaces, and we do not collect or upload screenshot contents. We do not intentionally include raw email addresses, license keys, auth tokens, payment card data, or screenshot image contents in analytics payloads. Analytics data is not sold and is used only to operate, secure, and improve Pixly.
To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the service, we may process IP addresses at request time to derive approximate country or geo information for Pixly website or app users.
We do not use this process to collect precise location. Unless explicitly required for operational security, abuse prevention, or debugging, we do not retain raw IP addresses in analytics reports; instead, we retain derived geo fields and related analytics metadata.
3. How We Use Data
- Activate and verify Pixly Pro licenses
- Maintain license integrity and prevent abuse
- Measure feature usage, product performance, and reliability through pseudonymous analytics
- Understand aggregate traffic sources and product funnel performance
- Respond to customer support requests
4. Data Storage & Retention
Settings, cached license status, and other app preferences are stored locally in your browser.
License records are retained while your license is active and as needed to meet legal, tax, and compliance obligations.
Pseudonymous analytics event data may be retained for a limited period as needed for product analytics, operational monitoring, debugging, and abuse prevention. Derived geo fields, session identifiers, and pseudonymous identifiers may be stored with analytics events.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable security measures to protect license data and service infrastructure. Screenshot content stays on your device.
8. Children’s Privacy
Pixly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date above when changes are made.
